I am new to the blogging world (I have been writing for a grand total of seven months). Aside from figuring out things like widgets and how to post videos, I have met some new friends. Although it remains mysterious to me that we can connect with without ever having laid eyes on one another, I am glad of this new community.

One new friend is the writer behind Outtakes on the Outskirts, where country life never goes as planned. I am drawn to her blog in part because of her natural writing style, but also because she has chickens! Seeing as I can’t have my own, following her stories are the next best thing.

Just this afternoon I received word that this new friend has awarded me the Versatile Blogger Award! What a delightful honour to be chosen. But this award comes with a few rules: I must nominate 15 other bloggers to receive the award  as well as post seven random things about myself. My list is a rather strange mish-mash of gardening, theology and witty writers. Some are blogs I follow regularly, others I only drop by now and again. All of them, however, I commend to you for your enjoyment. Here are my 15:

The second part of accepting this award requires that I share seven random things about myself. Like Outtakes on the Outskirts who nominated me, I studied dance for a long time, until I was 18. I also edited my high school yearbook, have a Webkinz pet named Mrs. McFly and have a weakness for Warm Vanilla Sugar at Bath and Body Works. I don’t like french fries, never sing in the shower and can’t sit still if there’s funk playing anywhere within a mile and a half. Just ask my kids.
