When I booked my stay here at the Lindisfarne Inn, I had no idea how much I would appreciate a day of rest! And what a glorious day it has been.
I slept in and had a lovely breakfast. The sun was shining and I could see it wouldn’t last with dark clouds in the distance. I wrote in my journal, catching up on a few details I had just been too tired to write out in the last few days.
I read. I had a nap (so decadent!). I tended to my blistered feet. I gave thanks for the radiator and rinsed out a few bits of clothing that dried in no time at all. I checked in at home, where my husband is making preparations for an adventure of his own. All is well.
I will be on my way again tomorrow, walking across to the island at low tide. But today I am content. This is why, in the story of creation, there is a day set aside for nothing but rest. It is a moment for my body to catch up with my heart, to count blessings, to feel safe.
Fish and chips for supper, a pint of the local Lindisfarne Ale, and early to bed. I want to be ready to receive all of the blessings that await me on the next stage of my journey.
Love reading these Kristine! I am almost feel like I am there with you, minus the blistered feet!
Steve was absolutely delighted yesterday to get your text! We have so enjoyed following the journey!
Enjoy your day of rest. You’ve certainly earned it!
